Welcome to the Northup Studio
The central focus of the studio is weaving instruction and promoting the art of weaving in the decorative and fine arts. The facility incorporates space for basic fiber processing, dying, spinning, weaving and knitting, with a focus on weaving. The Studio is owned by Jolene Northup who is an active fiber artist emphasizing the use of different fibers and structures with a strong interest in weaving as both a craft and an art form.
The Studio
Upon moving to Central Oregon Jolene and her husband built their dream Studio and workshop. The Studio Provides 1000 Sq. Ft. of working space overlooking the high desert and Mt. Jefferson. Located in The Crooked River Ranch, the Studio provides access to a wide range of accommodations, recreational and cultural attractions. More details are provided in the Weaving Instruction, Area Accommodations, and Things to Do in Central Oregon pages.
Weaving Instruction
A key goal of the Studio is to provide enhanced opportunities for instruction in weaving and design, and to expand your weaving possiblities. Basic and Intermediate classes will be offered in the summer and fall season each year. A variety of looms are available for hands-on instruction, including table and floor looms. See our Weaving Instruction page for more details.
Events and Activities
Participation and support of Fibre Arts events in the community is important for the artistic growth of new and existing weavers, knitters and spinners. A section of this web site is therefore devoted to providing a Calendar of Events and activities of interest to fiber artists in Central Oregon and beyond. Check the Fiber Arts Calendar for current information. If you know of any events which should be added please notify us and we will spread the word.
